Identification and Background ¶ 

Samsung released the Instinct to be a competitor to the original iPhone on June 20, 2008. The Instinct offered an elegant design, partnered with impressive technical specifications. It quickly rose to become Sprint Nextel's second fastest selling phone in its history and gained the nickname, "the iPhone killer".

The Samsung Instinct can be recognized by its rather conservative touch screen, and three buttons on the bottom front of the device. In addition, the Sprint logo appears directly above the three buttons and the Samsung logo appears on the front and back of the device. The model number SPH-M800 can be found underneath the user-replaceable battery after sliding off the back cover of the device.
