The Hori Split Pad Pro is an officially licensed Joy-Con alternative for the Nintendo Switch gaming console. The Nintendo Switch is a video game console developed by Nintendo and released in March 2017 worldwide. The Joy-Con controllers include standard buttons and directional analog sticks for motion sensing, tactile feedback, and user input. The Hori Split Pad Pro was released in September 2019 under model numbers NSW-182 and NSW-182U. The Hori Split Pad Pro controllers attach to both sides of the console to support handheld-style play, similarly to the Joy-Con controllers.
The Split Pad Pro provides a full-size controller experience in the Nintendo Switch’s handheld mode. The Hori Split Pad Pro controller is smaller than the Joy-Con controller, allowing users to hold the grips like a traditional controller. The controller features full-sized analog sticks, face buttons, and triggers that are also similar to a traditional controller. The Split Pad Pro features assignable rear triggers and turbo functionality. This controller does not include HD Rumble, NFC, or an IR camera.
The Hori Split Pad Pro can be differentiated from the Joy-Con controllers by its single-colored pieces, as opposed to the Joy-Con’s dual-colored (red and blue) pieces. The Split Pad Pro is sold in a range of colors. The controller’s joysticks and buttons are typically a different color than the main body.
