Background
The Dell G5 15 5587 is a budget gaming laptop made in 2018 with a GTX 10 series graphics card, making it able to play most games being released at this time. It was discontinued in early 2019, having a rather short product life span. It can go for $649 for refurbished versions today, but the original launch price was roughly $988-$1,049.
It had some common issues with overheating and some power limitations. Under heavy game loads, the CPU and GPU would cause thermal throttling, causing freezes and poor performance.
Identification
The G5 15 5587 has a 15.6 inch screen and was officially sold in black or red exteriors. It weighed 2.6 kg at dimensions(mm) of 25 x 329 x 275. There is a service tag located on the bottom near the back of the laptop. It only differs from other models in having a more rigid and quality casing.
