Canon imageCLASS MF4150 – Paper jam deep inside, how do I open this se |
The Canon imageCLASS MF4150 is a monochrome laser all-in-one printer (print, scan, copy, fax) from the MF4100 series. It uses a single Canon Cartridge 104 toner/drum unit and feeds paper from a front-loading cassette with rear output through an internal fuser assembly.
Paper jams on this model commonly occur in the internal paper path near the fuser unit, which is accessed by opening both the front cover (toner access) and the rear cover. Deep jams may require releasing the green pressure-release levers located inside the rear cover to reduce roller tension before removing paper.
Common symptoms:
- Paper jam error with no visible paper
- Paper stuck deep inside and not reachable from the front
- Torn paper remaining in the fuser path
- Paper stops just before exiting the rear/output area
Important notes:
- The fuser area can be very hot after use; power off and wait before opening.
- Paper must be pulled slowly in the direction of normal paper travel.
- Even small torn pieces can trigger repeated jam errors.
Known causes of frequent jams include:
- Damp or curled paper
- Paper heavier than recommended (over 90 gsm)
- Worn pickup or exit rollers
- Debris or torn paper lodged around the fuser rollers
