Troubleshooting

If your Book Palma 2 is not refreshing, please check out our BOOX Palma 2 Screen Not Refreshing Troubleshooting page.

Background

The BOOX Palma 2 is a small electronic reader that looks a lot like a smartphone. The main difference is that it was made mostly for reading, rather than calling or texting. It has a 6.13-inch black-and-white E Ink screen that makes text look more like it does on paper. The screen also has an adjustable front light, so someone can read in a dark room or change the lighting to feel more comfortable. Since the device weighs only about 6 ounces, it is easy to hold with one hand or take along in a pocket.

One thing that makes the Palma 2 interesting is that it runs Android 13 and has access to the Google Play Store. This means users can download different reading apps instead of having to buy all their books from one store. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a fingerprint reader, a speaker, microphones, and a 16-megapixel camera that can scan documents. The device comes with 128 GB of storage and has a slot for a microSD card if more space is needed. Even though it looks like a phone, it does not have cellular service for regular phone calls or mobile data.

Onyx International introduced the Palma 2 in October 2024. Its regular price in the United States was around $299.99, although the price changed depending on sales and when someone bought it. It was sold in several regions, including the United States, Europe, Australia, and the Philippines. I could not find a reliable number showing exactly how many Palma 2 devices were made or sold. Some retailers now describe the device as discontinued, but I could not find an exact date when BOOX stopped making it.

Palma came after the original Palma, which was released in 2023. The two devices look very similar and have the same size screen, but the Palma 2 added a fingerprint reader, a newer processor, and a newer version of Android. Some reviewers thought these were helpful improvements, while others felt that the new model was not very different from the original. In 2025, BOOX introduced the Palma 2 Pro. That model added a color E Ink screen, stylus support, and an option for mobile data.

Identification

The BOOX Palma 2 comes in black or white and has a textured back, a rear camera with a flash, and side buttons for turning pages. One way to tell it apart from the original Palma is its fingerprint reader built into the power button. Since both models look similar, check the device’s settings or original packaging to confirm that it is a Palma 2.
