Background and Identification ¶

The Hi-Fi was released by Apple in February of 2006. It was meant to revolutionize the home speaker system by giving the ability to easily play music from the iPod on the home speaker.

The Apple iPod Hi-Fi is a medium sized speaker. The device is white with a black, removable grille. This device allows for an iPod with the original 30 pin connector to be directly plugged into the speaker. The speaker contains an audio jack on the back that is compatible with devices that contain an audio out jack. This device can operate on six D-cell batteries or with its 9.5’ power cord.

The Hi-Fi was discontinued in September of 2007 to let Apple focus on the iPod and iPhone.
