will not play content

I have a 5th generation ipod video and it syncs and charges but will not play music or videos but when you click in the song it acts like it's going to play but won't is this a damaged hard drive or hard drive cable or what PLEASE HELP!!!

Seth Potter, it could be either. Try and place your iPod into diagnostic mode. Check on here how to do that. Or you can try and place it in disk mode, and see if you can access the drive. This will tell you how to do that. If you can access your drive, reformat it and see if that makes a difference. If you can not access your drive, I would replace it and the cable as well. If you want to definitely know which is the offending part, get a USB-to Zif adapter and try to access your drive separate from your iPod. Hope this helps, good luck.

You will have to be in disk mode for that. That way you can treat your iPod like an external drive.
