whats the best processor replacement I can use

i am looking for the best processor replacement for my Dell Optiplex GX280, can someone please tell me what is the best processor i can use to replace my pentium 4. i need new processor because i mainly will be using my pc for gaming and i want the best that my pc can handle and that will fit in my frameware. someone please help, thank you.

peter, checked on the Dell forum and this is a list compiled of the CPU's that should be working for your computer:

thank you for your answer. but i got a pentium 4 3.8Ghz and i put it in my PC but when i started it up it said invalid processor. can you help me out again please and explain to me whats going on and what to do to fix it? the processor i have and had from the beginning is a Pentium P4 2.80Ghz/IM/800/04A SL7PR china 5526A54. peter, it appears that it will not work, since your chipset does not support the processor.
