Atrix 4g Digitizer Replacement problems

Well, simply, i recently broke the touch screen on my atrix and so being a tech person, i ordered a new one. Now the problem is that it works... BUT the left hand side of the screen about 1/8 vertically does not sense touch a "Dead Zone" Its really annoying and Motorola wont honor any sort of warranty. i was wondering if it may be possible if i were to heat up (With a hair dryer) the connections to the glass from the circuit/ribbon cable, if it may help with the dead zone?
