mail widget, that is part of phone package, force closes, and i cannot receive mail. the only way to resolve is complete reset, which takes hours to reinstall many apps.

You may need to update the firmware. Please check at htc.com if your phone is available for upgrade. Most of the time these firmware upgrade could eliminate those problem.
