Problem regarding the power button.

Firstly, I would like to apologize that I'm not inquiring on the iPhone issues.

Sir, I wanna ask regarding the power button of Galaxy S3. Why is it that sometimes when I press the power button, the power button will get stuck inside? Is this repairable? I already sent my phone to the Samsung service center twice, yet the result is still same. The power button will stick inside, especially when you press at the edge of the button instead of pressing it at its center point. Thanks for your precious information, iFixit.

I have the same problem. I have my Galaxy S3 for only two weeks now. Last week the problem started. Sometimes the power button is stuck and the S3 reboots. Sometimes it switches off and then it's hard to switch it on because of the stuck button.

Did you have it fixed by replacing the power button yourself? Where can I order such a button online?

Best regards,

Raymond.

Lol. Did you face the same problem for a new set of S3 device? Unluckiness. I just send to the Samsung Service Centre and they replaced the power button, so far it's good now. But I don't sure if the same problem will reoccur. It seems that my set has a lower quality compared to my friends' ones which have no problem at all. Send the problematic device to your Telco/Samsung Service Centre for claiming warranty or repair.

So how do you fix it? Is there another way you can turn on the phone? Because this just happened to me last night.

I can't lock my phone or anything anymore and i kept it on for the longest so i wouldn't have to deal with it any more but it suddenly turned off and now i can't turn it back on.

HELP!

My whole entire power button came off and I can't turn off my phone now! I have to wait until my screen shuts off by itself.

The power button is made of a flexible plastic. I don't think there is much you can do to fix it yourself. I would return it again and ask if they could fit a new button. Or, you can find one and replace it yourself. It's very easy to replace, as it pushes out from inside quite easily.

I see. I thought it was a manufacturing issue. So, are you sure that replacing the home button will do the wonders?

Not 100% sure but it might cure your problem

My power button probelm was due to the case. The coloured official case you can buy seperately was too tight and caused to button to become stuck if you pressed it on the lower half. In order to fix, I went back to my primal insticts and nawed the case edge near the power button. It's dented there now, but not noticable and the power button works flawlessly now.

Either that or get a new case.

I had the same problem and nearly sent it back to the manufacturers. However, had a bit of a 'light bulb' moment, took off the moulded plastic case and the problem was solved! Now got a different case!

The power button on my Samsung galaxy s3 is located at the upper right side of the phone, and is super sensitive to the lightest touch. Because of this the phone is always shutting down by itself. The power button should have been placed on the TOP of the phone. Please suggest how I can fix this. Thanks

Ethier Go to ebay and purchase a new power button and follow a YouTube video on how to remove old and solder a new power button to the main board, take it to a reputable independent mobile phone repair shop or send to the manufacturer and pay well over the odds for the privilege. (^_^)

How do you know for which samsung galaxy S3 to order the power button. Are there not several models? Are the power buttons different for each?
