The Nintendo Switch is a handheld game console that can be played on the TV via a docking station, or on the go. Released March 3rd, 2017.

Quiet speaker on one side

I'm having a problem with my Switch rev1. Right speaker working with noticebly lower volume than the left one.

I'm not the first owner of this console, but I know the capacitors on the left side of the APU cover have been replaced as they were damaged during maintenance of thermal paste replacement.

Replacing speakers (both from a donor) and swapping original speaker from left to right did not solve this. Absolutely nothing changes. What could be wrong?

3.5mm jack and wireless headphones works just fine, only speaker having an issue. Anything on the board could be related?

Hi!

Yeah, I also read somewhere that the capacitors could cause this…

I don’t think it’s related to the Audio IC, because the sound does work also regarding the 3.5mm jack.

Could you please update your post with some pictures regarding the damage?

Not sure what damage I can show at this moment, since these two caps have been replaced and wi-fi working properly without error, and that part in general does not work for audio.

Still clueless what can cause one speaker to be quiet.

I’ve read that it could be related to some caps/resistors close to the audio IC. You have 2 of them. One is responsible for the left side and the other one to the right side. I’ll try to find this info, when found I’ll post it here. Sorry.

@dan0 please let me know if you find anything, I'll take all info to the professional who can do it, for now we're both clueless on what's going on.

Hi!

I’m sorry, the caps I meant are related to another issue that can be found here: Volume up Button not working

This one is related to the volume buttons.. I was a little confused here.

So, regarding the issue you are having, I would check the Audio IC and try to replace it anyway and see if that helps… otherwise I’m not sure where to look… sorry

Hey, I just noticed something. Speaker balance in mono works normal, only stereo is affected. I'm not sure if audio IC related to this, probably something between it and speaker itself, but what?...
