tailgate will not open

My 2003 chevy Blazer tailgate will not open, so I have tried to take it apart to see why. But I can not see where it comes apart to get to the thing.

Alberta, there is a part called a bell crank inside the door, it is either jammed or broken.To get to the bell crank and latch release, the door panel will have to come off. Once you remove the door panel, you might be able to use a screwdriver to release the latch and then repair your mechanism.

Bellcrank Replacement - Liftgate

Remove the liftgate trim panel.

Release the handle and the latch rods from the bellcrank.

Remove the bolts that retain the bellcrank to the liftgate.

Remove the bellcrank from the liftgate.

Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement

Removal Procedure

Open the liftgate window.

Remove the screw retaining the liftgate trim panel to the liftgate window latch support.

Open the liftgate.

Remove the pullstrap (if so equipped).

Remove the trim panel from the liftgate.

Remove the screw that retains the liftgate assist handle to the liftgate trim panel.

Carefully pry at the edge of the liftgate assist handle in order to remove the liftgate assist handle from the liftgate trim panel.
