2006 VW Rabbit Fob Programming

I have ran into a problem with my 2006 vw Rabbit Fob. The Fob no longer unlocks or locks the car. I've tried several reset procedures from the internet but none have worked. The fob key will only cause the alarm to go off when a button is pressed. Can anyone suggest any fixes or recommend any ideas to look up?

Chosen Solution

VW issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) number 57 08 10 dated Oct. 28, 2008 that addresses some common key fob programming issues. One method that they describe is:

- Switch ON ignition with spare key.

- Unlock driver door manually by inserting main key in driver door lock cylinder.

- Press unlock button once on remote.

- Remove spare key from ignition lock cylinder.

- Close driver door and verify remote functionality.

Hope this helps,

BILL
