How do I Ground Myself when working on MacBook?

Hi, i am repairing a macbook and i have heard a lot about working on macbooks or any pc with an anti-static wrist strap or mat. I heard this was so you didnt fry any components in the machine. I also heard that working on carpet may can static discharge.

So, when working i would have the macbook on a glass surface which is sat on a carpet and PSU unplugged. Do i need to do anything else?

and, if i do get an anti-static wrist strap or mat how do i ground it and myself to the machine?

Thanks, please ask any necesarry questions for the answer :)

Here's some very good information on ESD procedure. The only really bad answer is the one that was accepted: How do I ground my ESD mat to avoid shocking computers?

If you have a static mat then you just simply place the mat on your table and then work on that, DO NOT WORK OFF THE MAT! And if you get a static strap, get one that will plug into a wall outlet, it will then put any static through your outlet, this is if your house is grounded i assume and hope. If your home is not grounded i would not recommend using that, i would recommend getting on that can clip onto something that is grounded, or somewhere on the computer. At work for me i work on a mat and have the strap, the mat is just for extra caution, but i would really recommend both, you never know.
