The phone only stays on while on charge
When it's taken off charge it switches off and on

Sounds a lot like a battery that's given up completely. Given the age of the phone, if the battery hasn't been replaced, then it's almost certainly due, so that's definitely the place to start. Once you have the new battery in place, that should solve your problem, but if not we can help you with further troubleshooting.
Unfortunately, iFixit doesn't have any guides for your phone, but the Spanish site Nadie Me Llama Gallina has just what you need. The site is, as you might guess, written in Spanish but they have an English language option if that helps. Otherwise, use a browser like Chrome that does translation and you'll be fine.
