Released on September 24th 2021, the iPhone 13 mini is a smaller version of Apple's iPhone 13 and is the second mini iPhone. It features a 5.4-inch OLED, an A15 Bionic processor, and dual rear cameras.

WiFi and Bluetooth barely works - why?

9-year-old’s iPhone 13 mini. Had a very unprofessional screen + battery replacement. Now:

  • WiFi disconnects constantly (especially when gaming)
  • Bluetooth range/connection is terrible
  • Screen flickers on home screen

Already tried the usual WiFi resets, forgetting networks, etc. – no change.

Questions:

  1. On the 13 mini, are WiFi and Bluetooth handled by the same chip or antenna flex cable?
  2. Could a botched screen replacement (tons of leftover glue, possibly damaged flexes) cause both WiFi and BT issues?
  3. Any specific things to check inside?

Thanks so much!

Update your phone to it's latest software version can help you in fixing the issue.

Hi @come8cmice30789

Try using the WiFi in the phone as close as possible to your home network router i.e. <15cm and check if it detects, connects and maintains a stable connection.

If it does, mostly likely it is a problem with the antenna - loose connection or faulty.

Here's a previous answer in ifixit that details how to remove/replace the antenna in the phone.

Answer too:

1 I believe so

2 Most likely not, but I suppose it could

3 I would check the antenna connections, and the connections between the board/screen so you can make sure there are no shorts/kinks in the cables.

Try making sure you have nothing close that can cause interference... Hopefully this works
