Repair and disassembly information for Google's Pixel 7 smartphone, released in October 2022. Identified by model number GVU6C and GQML3.

Why is fingerprint scanner requiring multiple attempts?

I replaced the screen on my Google Pixel 7 and connected it to my computer to load the fingerprint software. Now the phone requires 2–3 fingerprint attempts every time I try to unlock it.

I removed the existing saved fingerprints and added a new one, but that didn’t help. In fact, the scanner kept saying it couldn’t read my fingerprint during setup. Is there another fix I should try, or is it possible the replacement part is defective?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hello! The pixel 7 has an optical fingerprint sensor, so this can be caused by a dirty or cracked screen, also a thick screen protector might impede it as well. If your screen is clean and undamaged I'd assume a defective part.
