Disc drive issue, revs then stops

Hi guys, i have an Xbox One which takes a disc in fine, but it tries to spin the disc up, revs for a second then stops, then repeats a few times.

I have tried replacing the laser, i then changed the entire disc drive but still the same issue.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Other than that the xbox works fine

Cheers in advance

Hi!

Usually caused by a bad laser, but since you already tried a new one (including a complete new drive), it’s most likely something related to the drive it’s PCB or motherboard.

Did you tried a new SATA cable? Would try this first before you proceed to anything else.

Do blu-ray movies work??

Please let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your help,

No discs atall, tried a dvd & a game both with the same result.

I will give it a go after work tomorrow, i will swap both cables and see.

Will let you know.

My pleasure! Alright, please let us know how that goes :)!

Hopefully it will be a simple fix, like the SATA cable.

Sadly no improvement, tried changing both cables and also a different power supply. i cant think of anything else to check, thinking its a fault woth the daughter board

I’m afraid so. I think it’s the daughterboard… that will be a bummer, because you need the original daughterboard to read games. You can replace it, but this will cause the drive stop reading Xbox games. Only movies will work.

The daughterboard is married with the motherboard with a unique code…
