Why my Keyboard space key is felling different?

One of the keys on my laptop keyboard suddenly became stiff and harder to press. It feels like something is stuck underneath, but when I lift the key slightly to check, I don’t see any debris. The key still works, but it doesn’t move smoothly. I’m trying to figure out the cause and whether it can be cleaned or fixed at home, or if I need to replace the key mechanism.
