Announced February 2005, the Canon PowerShot A520 features 4.0-megapixel sensor with a 4x optical zoom lens.

buttons dont work and its zooming by itself

the camera is turning on but it shows me to set the date and i cant do that cause i cant click the buttons, when i turn the camera mode on i can see normaly, but when i try to take a picture it zooms instead of takimg the picture. Please help me i want to fix this camera

@lenalibczynska are you saying that when you push the shutter button to take a picture, your camera will start to zoom? That could then be related to the Zoom/dial release on the top assembly or the multifunction board.

Time to open up your camera and to check for any damage on either the board or the flex cables from the top section (shutter button). iFixit does not yet have a guide for the A520 but you can use the one for the A540 since those are essentially the same Canon PowerShot A540 Function Key Motherboard Replacement.

Once you have it apart, take some well focused images of what you have there and post those with your question. that way we can see what you see and hopefully we can figure it out. Adding images to an existing question
