Why is my trackpad clicking at random?

My trackpad has been clicking at random lately. I am not sure if I need to replace the upper case or if it could be another issue that is effecting the trackpad. Any pressure put on the top case will cause a click which is very annoying. The button also seems to get stuck in the down position from time to time.

Is your battery swelling or bulging if you look at it.

It is actually. Slightly bulging from the bottom.

Try taking the battery out and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't then you need a new battery. The battery you currently have in there is most likely swelling and applying pressure to the underside of the trackpad.

Hope this Helps

Hi,

I changed my battery one year ago, after 4 years of good services on a MBP 15.

The new battery lasted 1 year, and now is swelling, while the hard drive I changed at the same time lasted only 2 months (now having 2 ssd's).

It might be the crash in a car while riding my bike. (you should have seen the car and the bike ;) ... the laptop got a nice dent on a corner, the optical drive died and the hard drive (not a ssd) died shortly afterwards.
