How remove polish smude on screen?

Hello everyone.

I had a scratch on my screen that I tried to get polished in a repair store. Didn't do anything. Ended up putting a screen protector on it. Removed the screen protector today and I see that where the repair guy tried polishing it that there is a smudge that I can't get off, not with 70 nor 100% isoprop alcohol. Is there anything I can do? It isn't really visible unless I put a bright light on it but it kinda bothers me :)

Thank you in advance. See pics.

Sounds like the coating got damaged, if that's the case there is little you can do to repair that, only masking it like putting on a screen protector.

To properly fix will require a new display assembly iPhone 16 Screen and here the guide iPhone 16 Screen Replacement

Replace a scratched or cracked front panel glass digitizer screen or a malfunctioning Super Retina XDR OLED display. Image

I'm guessing the oleophobic coating on the glass got polished off; that's the coating that helps the glass resist fingerprints. I haven't tried this, but there are kits you can buy that are supposed to restore that coating; that's what I'd try if it was my phone. Do a search for oleophobic coating online and you should come up with plenty of choices. Here's one that came up that looks interesting to me.

@dadibrokeit Already had anything like this and did reapplying an oleo coating fix it?

Again, I haven't had any experience with it, but others have. In fact, it turns out there's an iFixit guide to applying it!
