Laptop screen not turning off

Please, with my laptop, when I turn it off either by pressing on the power button or through the usual process of turning off which I regularly follow. The systems goes off, that is, the fun stops working and everything shuts down except the screen. The screen shows a dim light especially at the lower right corner, even though the laptop is off but seems the screen isn't. Please any help?
