Why is screen blinking after digitizer/lcd replacement?

So i replaced the digitizer/lcd on my ipod 4th gen and i thought i had the lcd conneced so i tried turning the ipod on.... nothing.... so after fiddling around with the lcd connection some more i got it connected and started getting the screen blinking every couple seconds. the lcd would turn off then blink black, turn off, blink black, and kept going like that. so i tried laying down the screen and holding the power and home button for 10 seconds and it just kept doing the same thing. i thought maybe it was the lcd so i disconnected it and connected the original that was working (but cracked) and it started doing the same thing as the new one. anyone have any suggestions on what is going on? and what i can do to fix it? PLEASE

I just tried plugging it into the computer and nothing happened. It seems like the computer won't recognize it anymore!

Nothing was damaged or broken when tearing down the ipod to replace the screen. it was working just fine before working on it. this is the 3rd ipod 4g that ive done and i did nothing different and the other ones turned out perfect. i do not understand why the ipod would just stop functioning all together.. after a simple screen replacement
