Released in early 2015, the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS is a Wi-Fi enabled, super zoom camera. This camera weighs just under one pound. Identified by model number pc2200.

E42 Error message appears when powered on

The camera powers on, but a yellow light flashes and none of the functions work. An error E42 appears on the screen. I have to remove the battery to shut it down. I've tried a different battery and different memory card. What is an E42 error? What will it take to repair it?

Thank you for your response. I tried all the methods in a video found in the link. After a couple of days of trying different things, suddenly the camera started working again. I don't know what method worked, but it's fixed. Thank you for the information.

@marksalvatore the E42 is usually indicative of a lens error. If your camera lens can't extend or retract then your camera will display a E42 error. Try the ideas from here. Should that fail, you may have to replace the lens. For that use this guide Canon PowerShot SX530 HS Lens Replacement
