Why does the character move without the Joystick

When playing a game on my PSP 1000 the character starts moving without touching the joystick (Joystick Wander)
I am hoping that someone has managed to fix this problem and if so please can you tell me how. I replaced the joystick for a new one which didn't improve anything.

Can anyone help?

Hi!

Yes, you need to replace the joystick to fix this.

First, you need to follow this guide: PSP 1000 Buttons Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide (stop at step 8). There you do see the stick screwed in with 2 screws. Take those out and then you can replace it!

Be sure to clean the other side of the contacts.
