Saftey Warning Most compressor-based HVAC equipment including ACs and dehumidifiers runs directly on 120-volt AC or more often than not 240vac do not poke around in them if you are not comfortable working with wall outlet voltages all units contain capacitors that hold charge even when unplugged.
- Unplug and unpower the unit
- Next, use a 300V-rated insulated tool to discharge the fan and compressor starting capacitor.
- Next, using a multimeter in MFD ( (µF) ), or capacitance mode ( ┤├ symbol ) measure the capacitance from C or common to HERM or H compare the results with

- If no issue is found, next check the 24VAC contactor
- If the problem persists, I'd recommend having an HVAC professional diagnose and service the unit.
