I broke my A1990 screen. Which screen is compatible?

Hi Everyone,

Hope this finds everyone well. I broke my A1990 screen, I'm trying to get a replacement.

Can you please help me, which screen should I get so that the Mac doesn't get bricked.

Can any used A1990 screen work?

To start with here's the guide we have MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2019 Screen Replacement

Sadly Apple has made it hard as they have parts serialization so one can't replace displays without loosing TrueTone with used displays, and virgin displays direct from the maker won't have the camera firmware installed so the camera won't work!

So while Apple is now publishing repair manuals and offering parts they don't offer either for this series which prevents Apples Self repair as an option even getting a new screen from them to fix your own system! Basically limiting you to either an Apple Store or authorize service center.

Locating a used display can be tricky (if you don't care about TrueTone). As I think you are in Europe or the UK you might want to check these folks as they are one of the better sources for used Mac parts on that side of the Pond! TheBookYard - 2019 MacBook Pro Displays give them an email ping to see if there is anything new just not listed yet or even visit them if you are in area.

Thanks so much Dan. This is really helpfull. I am in melbourne australia atm.. i have gone through the instructions i will try to find if there are used screens available. Do please let me know if there are any suppliers you know in Melbourne or australia

@moonis - I would email him, I don't think referencing us will make that big a difference.

He's a person that's tends to be focused when working turning off & silence distractions.

He might be on holiday as the weather is a bit nicer to your cooler 19 C 😢 with the seasons changing.
