Guides and repair information for dryers produced by Beko, a Turkish appliance manufacturing company.

Dryer doesn't turn on, periodic clicking from panel after power outage

After a brief power outage, our dryer doesn't function at all (panel is unresponsive, no lights, etc.). There is just a periodic clicking noise coming from the beep speaker on the circuit board. Before the power outage, the dial had been left in an on position, and so I suspect a power surge to the board when the power returned.

I've ruled out an issue with the receptacle and thermal fuse. Power is clearly getting to the board. Inspecting the motor, I don't seem to see a belt switch to test, so I don't believe this model has one. Is there anything else I should assess? Can I somewhat safely assume the issue is with the circuit board?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @charlestlf

What is the model number of the dryer?

Check if there's any visible damage to any of the components on the control board e.g. burnt out components, heat stressed components etc.

If there is then that's a sure sign that there's a problem with the board.

Thanks for the reply @jayeff. The model number is BDV7200X. No visible damage to the board that I can tell.

@charlestlf

No visible damage doesn't mean that all is OK.

Try and see if resetting it works in case the software got corrupted somehow.

Disconnect the power to the dryer and then move the cycle selection switch from on and select a drying cycle type e.g. cotton and then press and hold the Start button for 30 seconds.

Release the Start button and restore the cycle selection switch to off

Reconnect the power to the dryer and check what happens when you try to use it.

If still no good, consider the board has failed.

@jayeff Just tried that and no dice. Thank you for the suggestion. Likely it is the board.

Is there anything else you can think of that could be at play?

@charlestlf

I can't find a complete parts list but if there's a display control board as well as a main control board you could check that for any component damage.

With some other make of washers if there's a loss of communication between the two boards it won't function.

Otherwise there's nothing else that I can think of.

Found this video that shows how to get into the diagnostic mode for your model, but since there's no display and no function it's really not applicable, unless you do get a new board and you can start it but there are still problems with its operation at least you might be able to find out the error code.

Hi @jayeff

Just closing the loop in saying that I finally was able to obtain a OEM replacement board and voila, the dryer is now functional! Thank you for helping me thinking through this and giving me the confidence to trust my gut on the issue. I appreciate your help!
