Can I swap out the SSD from my flooded MacBook into another?

I spilled a drink on my MacBook Air while it was running and looked up just in time to see the screen go black. I was traveling and the local Mac repair shop removed the 256GB SSD card for me. I purchased a new, identical 256GB Macbook Air. Can I swap the SSD Card from the old MacBook into the new one and will it boot up off of the old one?

Thank you.

Chosen Solution

Yes, you can

If the hardware is almost the same or exactly the same, you can keep the old OS

If there are major differences, it's anyone's guess as to if it does like windows, it does or does not

It should work providing it did not short

We will help you fix the old one if you want too and have it
