I am hoping someone can help me understand how to remove the ribbon cable from The PCB. I have never seen one like it. There appears to be no release mechanism.

Well, I got this figured out. Yes, there is no release mechanism; this is not a ZIF. The contactors are actually spring like. So the cable just inserts and pulls out. The problem I had was that the cable and the contactors had been together too long. I sprayed some DeoxIT D5 on the connector assembly and let it soak for two minutes. After this time, the cable came free with little force being applied.
