It won't read disks.

My ps2 Cannot read disks. Everytime I put in a disk it only spins for a second and then stops. I've tried putting in a new ribbon cable to the laser because it lookes a bit corroded but nothing changed. I'm not sure the laser is faulty but I don't really think so. Any theories and advice is welcome.

Try a cdrom/dvd cleaner. If that does not work then bossiness the dvd reader is bad or the connectors are dirty.

If do remove dvd player. Put component cleaner on toothbrush and clean connector end.

Dry Off well. Put dvd reader back into ps2 and test. If that does not work replace dvd reader.

Probably drive has failed due to age. I'd fit a new one to be honest.
