My screen is not turning on but the sound and software are operational. How do i disassemble my computer to clean behind the screen and inside the components? I dont see many screws and im afraid to pop everything off and potentIally break it. Help!

I ended up taking apart the back panel as well as the motherboard silver panel and saw that the bottom lighting of the screen was burnt but maybe the screen display may have been burnt as well. I believe it overheated causing this problem. If you know of any place who sells replacement parts please let me know. Thank you.

@nicole79279 for that issue you really do not have to disassemble and clean your computer just yet. There are a couple of other thing you can check first. This could be a backlight issue.
Turn the computer on and make sure that you hear the sound. Next, use a flashlight and shine the beam at an angle against the screen. Do that in a darkened room. See if you can make out shadows, shapes or even your desktop. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed. If you do not see anything, it is still possible that this is and LCD issue. Just connect an external monitor to your computer and see if that shows properly, If so you know the issue is your LCD.
After that you can disassemble your computer since you may have to work on fixing whatever the issue will be. Let us know your exact computers model. You picked a HP TouchSmart 600 and we need to make sure that this is the right model.

This might be old enough to have a CFL backlight. Those are beginning to go out in mass even on the good monitors and there's no new panels available.
@nick that is correct but there are ways to either convert it to LED of to fit CCFL's if it has those hence the check for backlight issues first :-)
@oldturkey03 The problem is the loss of control over the brightness. That's a big deal breaker for me, at least. It's still not impossible if you don't mind that massive downside, but it could be a possible deal breaker. Even my IQ506 was showing signs; I think a donor inverter helped, but it only bought me time. The panel was still well run and nearing its end of life. But realistically someone doing the conversion probably will not notice or care. Maybe it can be maintained with a buck converter, but the inverter needs to do PWM well for it to not flicker all the time.
When they can be converted and behave like it wasn’t done, they'll keep going for years, realistically. I have seen some so old they lack HDMI and just have DVI and VGA (that era of low-end) keep going, and the reason to weigh an upgrade is the increasing unavailability of the DVI adapter to make it HDMI. My limit is is has to be FHD 1080 with HDMI to consider it - anything less is ewaste for me these days.

@oldturkey03 Plazmo has a 23" kit but it needs external power or it needs to be tapped into existing connections which offer the right voltage: https://www.plazmo.com/products/led-back...
Maybe if the 600 has a DC connector from the board or the PCB that the inverter uses steps up from DC>AC, the OP could tap into that. I wouldn't rely on the dimming to keep working, but it's an option.
The reason I keep the bar high on what I'll entertain converting/repairing as a whole is that anything that is sub 1080 is so old that the cost to convert it far exceeds the value of the conversion, especially given QHD monitors are getting cheap on the secondary market. I bought an HP E27u G4 for $75 over a few blemishes. You can buy them for well under $200 or in the low $200 range if you can't get a deal from a scrap facility just moving product.
