Digitizer only responding to bottom half of screen

I have an ipad 2 that has a shattered screen directly to the right of the home button. The wi-fi antenna was destroyed so I decided to replace it. I followed the steps to replace the antenna and it went well. I wanted to test and make sure the wi-fi connection works before investing in a new front panel to fix the cracked screen. The ipad started up fine and it shows a full internet signal, so the new antenna must have worked. However, the digitizer will only work at the bottom half of the ipad. For instance, I can slide and unlock the ipad at the bottom, but I cannot slide and turn off the ipad at the top. I need to mention that when I removed the digitizer cable from where it is glued to the logic board, I barely scraped the digitizer cable with the tool I was using. There is a very small cut where the black coating on the digitizer cable is scraped off. The cable is not torn or ripped just scraped. Would this be the reason the screen is acting up? If so, the front panel I plan on buying will fix this. If not, I do not want to waste my money hoping the new cable will fix it.

The cables are the very easy to damage. However, I would think that if you had damaged the connector cable, the digitizer screen wouldn't work at all. I had to replace the digitizer screen on my iPad. Got one from http://ipad.screentekinc.com- and it works just fine.

If you have the problems like you say you do and there is visable damage to the cable!! then i might say its that.

Dont forget that its only thin copper tracks in there and if its stretched or scratched then thats your probem!!
