Why does my device not turn back on after dying?

My phone died in my bag while I was at work, and when I came back, it wouldn't turn on. After a evening's worth of charging, the device still would not turn on. There is no screen indicating its charging, and i've used about 4 different cables and outlets. Its a new phone, bought about 2 weeks ago. Is there a reason my device wont turn on and hold a charge after dying? I've now tried letting charge overnight to no avail.

@kaiweinstock since you just "bought about 2 weeks ago" I would take it back. Things don't get better with age ;-) and if it already gives you issues then you want to be proactive and have a chat with whomever you bought this from. Have them get you a different phone.
