How to open the nose trimmer

Hi,

The title says 'nose trimmer', which I was very happy to find, but the guide actually refers to a beard trimmer.

Someone at our Repair Cafe brought in a Philips-Norelco Series 5000 nose trimmer that stopped working, but it seems to be impossible to open it. Do you happen to know if and how it can be opened?

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

I found a manual from Phillips about the trimmer. Hopefully this should help:

https://www.documents.philips.com/assets...

p.s. The trimmer has a 2-year warranty as well. So if you still can't open the trimmer and it's within warranty, I would have the customer send an email to Phillips about getting it replaced.

Thanks.

The manual doesn't contain anything about opening up the device, of course.

The trimmer is more than two years old, so not under warranty.

Hmm, I'm not sure then. If I had to guess, there might be some "hidden way" to take apart the trimmer that's difficult to find (I know I'm kinda pulling threads here). I realize it isn't the same trimmer, but I found a good video on where you might find some of those "hidden" areas:

Try looking around the battery compartment as well to see if there are any areas where you can unscrew something or pop off a plastic cover (be careful not to break it). This trimmer seems very hard to take apart, hopefully nothing is glued together or any plastic melted in place (although I wouldn't be surprised).

Happy repairing!
