Repair and disassembly information for Google's Pixel 7 Pro smartphone, released in October 2022. Identified by model number GP4BC and GE2AE.

Screen replacement touch not working

Hello, I recently had my power button break and start spamming input on my Pixel 7 Pro. During the replacement, I cracked my screen. Unfortunate, but I ordered the OEM screen replacement and followed the install instructions carefully.

Unfortunately, I have display, but have no touch control on the screen. It also appears to be spamming input near the top of the screen.

I have tried carefully removing and reseating the cable and made sure to not touch the screen as it booted. Is this a defective part or are there other potential solutions? I have not seated it with the adhesive since the guide said it should work before reinstalling the screen. Any help would be appreciated, or if I need to try and get it replaced if it's just defective. Thanks

Hi Elijah,

As a fellow Pixel owner and iFixit moderator, Pixel related questions that come up tend to catch my eye. One thing I have noticed is that the Pixels seem to have an initial failure rate for new screens that is higher than you would expect for genuine factory replacement parts (which is all that iFixit sells for Pixel phones).

Given that, and assuming you bought your screen from iFixit, then I'd suggest you take advantage of their lifetime warranty and contact them for a replacement. Best way I know of is to email them at support@ifixit.com, include your order number, and explain the situation.
