Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

Pierced Power Button cable for the PS2 Model SCPH-39001

Basically, I found a PS2 Fat lying around my home, I tried turning it on to see if it worked, and it didn't turn on. Turns out the (what I suppose is the power cable) is pierced.

Is there any issue if I buy a generic ribbon for replacement? Or do I need a specific cable to fix the issue?

Hi there!

You do need to buy the correct specific one.

Usually it's 7 pin. Please check before you order that it's the right one!

You can find them here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=ps2...

Please let us know how it goes!

Hi there, my personal issue is that I live outside the US, so buying it from eBay or Amazon comes with a hefty shipment price tag.

Looking through my local version of those two sites, I found this one:

https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.co/MCO...

Since both the eBay one and the Mercado Libre one are pretty much the same (both are 25cm long and have 7 pins) I guess they're the same, but it's still worth to double-check.

Hi!

Does your PS2 model type matches there? If yes, I think you need that one. Both are the same size and both are the 7 pin one, so I think your all good! Would give that a try :)!
