How do I replace the fingerprint sensor

hi! i’ve got an hp elitebook 840 g5, and the fingerprint sensor looks like it’s physically pushed in. it no longer sits flush with the surface, and i suspect it might be misaligned or dislodged internally. has anyone dealt with this before? i’m open to disassembling the laptop if needed, but i’d love advice on how to approach this properly, oh and the left-click button is stuck

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @rachelkrispies

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop.

Go to p.61 (p.71 of 123 pdf) to view the procedure to remove/replace the fingerprint sensor.

If the fingerprint reader is faulty search online for L13681-001 to find suppliers that suit you best.

If the bracket needs replacing, search online for L13693-001 This is the part number for the Bracket Kit. The kit includes the USB support bracket and the fingerprint reader bracket.

The touchpad button board removal/replacement procedure as well as the part number for the button board are shown on p.64 (p.74 of 123 pdf) in the guide.
