Washing Machine won't spin

So I have a top loading Maytag washing machine, it uses a direct drive. It struggles to spin when I have it facing upwards, but it works fine on its side. Not sure if its because the tub is putting pressure on the clutch or motor, or if its something else. It also makes a loud sound, kind of like sputtering I guess

It could be the clutch assembly.

Here's a link that has a video that shows how to replace it so that you can check to see if it is OK or not.

If it is faulty search online for 285785 to find suppliers that suit you best. (examples only)

Perhaps also check if the agitator cogs are all OK. If they're faulty search online for 80040 to find suppliers that suit you best. (examples only)
