Airport icon has disappeared!

I had to take the battery out of my MBP for a repair.

Now when I turn the computer on my Airport icon has disappeared.

When I go to System preferences/Network it is not there either.

Does anyone have a procedure I can follow to rectify this problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You possibly dislodged the airport card in your work on the computer, OR shorted it out (if you touched it while power was supplied to the logic board). Reopen the laptop, check the connection the card makes into the connector on the board. Reboot, but do not restore all screws/tighten them down until you know it's working OK.

Thanks again Machead. However, even with the aid of the internet it's hard to decipher where the airport card actually is: is it hard soldered on the logic board or under the screen clutch cover. Any ideas???
