Repair information for Samsung clothes dryers.

Red power cord burned off

Have a dv40j3000ew/a2 dryer that burned out the heating element. Replaced the heating element and the two heat sensors and put dryer back together. When I plugged it back into wall to test it, it sparked and blew out the red hot wire where the plugged in red wire connects. I can replace the terminal end of the red hot wire but did I wire up one of the heat sensors incorrectly? Any advice would help. Thanks.

Hi @scotthubba80253

With the power disconnected from the dryer, use a DMM (digital multimeter) and check if there's a short circuit i.e. 0.00 Ohms shown on meter) between the red wire and the dryer chassis.

This is to see if perhaps a wire/wire connection is inadvertently touching the chassis. If it is the hard part will be finding where it is.

Unfortunately the service manual for the dryer doesn't have a wiring diagram but hopefully it may still be of some help.
