Apple's third-generation smartwatch, with optional cellular connectivity, released September 22, 2017.

Model 3 but the factory battery is from model 2

I ordered the model 3 kit, but when I opened my watch, the battery is not the same. I looked at the box, yes I kept it, and it is model 3. However, the battery that the watch has is the A1760.

Has anyone seen this before?

@carlost24430 if your watch has the A1760 battery then your watch is (or at least needs) a Apple Watch 2 (battery). If they shipped you a A1760 then you will have to have the seller repalce it with the proper one for your watch.

Again, if the A1760 is in your watch, it is a Apple Watch 2

Thank you for the response. Indeed, I see the problem, though it is too late to return. Ugh.. I ended up buying the battery for the 2, and it should work.

Thank you for your help.

Where did you buy the battery? Are you sure the watch is a model 3. Are you confusing the Battery ID with the Watch as A1760 is not a Watch ID. Review this listing EveryMac - Apple Watch specs
