binu, we could use more information. What kind of characters are appearing? Are they symbols from the font you're using, or something completely separate like a wingdings font or something? Does it happen completely at random, or is it triggered by particular keys?

Does this also occur if you connect a USB or wireless keyboard to the laptop and use it?
Has the laptop gotten wet or been dropped at all?
