Replacement battery has a different connector

Hi, I bought this battery to replace my old swelling battery in a razer blade 2021. There was to specific battery for my model available so I thought this one might be the same. It arrived and it is exactly the same. After replacing the battery I tried to plug it in and realized that it has a different connector. Even though its the exact same battery that fits perfectly, they changed the connector. Is there any way to fix or change the connector of the battery to make it fit? Perhaps an adaptor?

Thanks

@tivajo6928 looks like they split off more power rails. I would measure the voltage Red and Black on both batteries. Make sure that it is the same voltage. Amps don't matter right now. Let's go with the assumption that everything is the same except the connector/wiring.

You ready now? :-) This is what I would do, not saying you should do that. I'd cut the wires to the connectors (both of them). Those need to be cut long enough so that there is at least an inch of pigtail. Now, looks like there are about 3 times as many red and black wires. So I would connect 3 red from the battery to 1 red on the connector. Same with the black wire. I'd make sure that I solder those wires and don't just twist them and have them all lose etc. I would also get some heat-shrink tubing to insulate the splices. Then I'd Connect the rest of the wires from the new battery to their corresponding colors on the old connector. Of course , I'd make sure it is all well insulated and solidly connected.

Yup, I'd disconnect the power supply and I would plug the battery in and see what happens. There is always a chance that the power fuse on the motherboard will pop and it may damage some traces :-) That means I did create myself more work. I am pretty convinced that it will work without any issues, if the batteries have the same values.

In your case, I would recommend that you contact the seller and see if there is a different version for the same battery number. Sometimes revisions are being made that do not necessarily reflect in the part number.

Thanks, that's what I hoped could be possible. I'll try and post results later.

Sorry, looks like you got the wrong battery.

Just looking at the image we can see within the replacement battery two rows of contacts (22) which are fully populated whereas your original battery only has one row of contacts (10). I can't see any way to make this work with any certainty it would work.

Best to return it to get your funds back and see if you can find the proper replacement.

Update (05/23/24)

First carefully measure the common lines (Black) across to each Red line to see if you can measure different voltages. I would first try the nearest red to the black and then check across the others from the static black line.

What you’ll need to do is create a schematic of your original battery by talking it apart as you need to see how the cells are wired up. The replacement looks like it’s wired up in either discrete or paired off cells interfacing at the connector (hence the doubled up lines or the system this battery was intended to be used used multiple wires per a given run.

You do need to be careful as I’m suspecting you’ll need to reuse the BMC unit of your battery with the other cells, that way you won’t have any issues if the breakout is different.

Repeat the same process carefully taking the battery apart so you just have the raw cells still wired up then compare the two battery layouts. And of course don’t short out either battery or puncture it! Hopefully you can reused the plastic case.

It's the same battery. The connector is different. I already couldn't find the exact part, which is why I had to try this one. Those that I did find don't ship to my country.

I'd like to try something, even if it's shady. I don't mind destroying the whole thing in the process out of spite.
