new battery wont charge

i just bought a replacement battery from ifixit and upon replacing it the device wont even vibrate to alert it being plugged in. at first i thought i broke the screen cable when i took it apart but i noticed the phone was not vibrating when i tried to power it on or charge it. maybe the battery i was shipped was completely drained? i have no way of telling without buying a volt meter and i am not finding much help searching google.

Answer this question I have this problem too

do you have your old battery still? could you try plugging it in to see if its the phone or the battery?

did you properly calibrate the battery by charging it to 100%+2 hours and letting it drain fully?

have you let the phone charge for a bit?

if you do find out its the battery, you can get a replacement https://help.ifixit.com/category/133-con...

the original battery swelled so thats not really an option. ive been following multiple diagnoses guides and so far the phone has been unresponsive. i even unplugged the battery and re plugged it into the device. now its been sitting on the charger. i plan on letting it sit for two hours or so before i touch it again. ive read about some people being able to get them to charge with certain chargers after they've been fully drained so maybe i can figure that out.

Hey Mate,

Might the ribbon cable that connects the battery internally to the motherboard be not connected?

That would be the first port of call.

Let me know so we can go from there.

Hmmmmm. What did you unplug first?

Also, the fact that the battery is drained shouldn't stop the vibrating thing, as the moment you charge it, the phone will have power.

@falcon16 if a battery is dead enough they cant be recharged. the phone will not vibrate unless the battery has the power to make it happen. plugging in a charger does not run the phone it charges the battery and the phone will only run off the battery. as for what i unplugged first? what do you mean by that? i took off the screen again then unplugged the battery from the mb then replugged everything back in. this phone was released in 2021 for all we know these batteries have been sitting on a shelf since then.
