My laptop is powering on but the screen is not working

This problem came out of nowhere. The screen didn’t work and the automatic start didn’t work

Everything else is working like the lights when turned on and the fan but the screen is totally blacked out with no response or any light

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @binayparta26305

Try connecting an external monitor (TV?) to the laptop's HDMI port and check if you can see the laptop's display on it. Don't forget to press the F7 key to toggle between the laptop screen only, the external screen only or both on together.

If there is a display seen on the external monitor there's a backlight problem with the laptop screen

With the laptop turned on, try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the laptop screen and check if you can detect any images on the screen at all.

They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If you can see images then there's a problem with either the video cable, video cable connection (at either end, motherboard or LCD panel), or the LCD panel itself.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.78 to view the procedure to remove the LCD panel. This will allow to to inspect the cable and cable connections at least.

If there's no display seen on the external monitor, then there's a motherboard problem. Perhaps the laptop is not even passing POST (power on self test) before attempting to load the operating system.

Try a full power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

a). Disconnect the charger from the laptop (if connected) and then open the laptop and disconnect the main battery from the motherboard (you don't have to remove the battery, simply disconnect it) and also disconnect the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard. See p.69 and p.67 respectively, of the hardware maintenance manual linked above.

b). Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

c). Reconnect the RTC coin cell battery, reconnect the main battery, reassemble the laptop, connect the charger and try turning the laptop on.

If it turns on OK there may be a message stating that the date and time are incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset by the above procedure. Once the date and time have been corrected, the message won't appear the next time that the laptop is started. Also any user definable BIOS settings that were changed by you to suit whatever system requirements you needed, will have to be changed back again also.
