The first step in any water damage is to open the device and disconnect any power, including the battery, this will prevent corrosion and further damage,

Here Is a YouTube video demonstrating this process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOdhsWA-...

But typically, you will want to follow these steps:

  1. ensure the device is powered off
  2. remove all screws on the bottom of the device
  3. try to gently pry the bottom cover off the device
  4. look for the battery (large black rectangle)
    1. disconnect any cables or connectors, leading to the battery.
    2. remove screws holding the battery in place
  5. then fully remove the battery

once you have removed the battery, you can then inspect parts of the laptop for any water damage.

After that it is dependent on what has been damaged, but these steps will ensure that the damage from water is minimized
