What are the causes of the death of my iPhone?

A few days ago when I was listening to music, my iPhone 11 Pro suddenly shut down and since then it won't turn on anymore. I then booked an appointment with the Apple Store for a check.

The agent plugged it in with their Macbook for diagnosis, however, nothing changed. I was advised that it could be a hardware issue and the repair cost would be around ~£350 as my phone is out of warranty and it is an upfront payment.

I asked if they could open it up and check what part of the phone was broken before I agreed with the repair cost. However, the agent advised that they could not open it up at the Store. There is no point in paying the cost without knowing the problem so I rejected the repairment. Is there any other way for me to figure out the causes of the death of my phone?

Don't listen to the people at the genius bar they are just trying to get you to buy another phone

Did you drop it in water or just drop it at all?

by

@hampter I did not drop it at all that is why I was shocked when it suddenly died. I am not a gamer as well so I don't see any abusive use to the phone

by

And you got the phone new?

by

@hampter Yes it is a new phone and I've been using it for 4 years until now.

@longpham58734 is there anything you remember about what the agent told you. Like anything about the board or flex cables

Also does it vibrate when charged

And try to do a soft reset (quick press volume up then volume down and hold the power button)

Hi Long, I've seen this before. it could be the earpiece speaker as I know it can make the phone boot loop. or a motherboard failure.

The only way this would happen if the phone boot to begin with, as far as I can see its not booting at all but very good thinking

Do you know if he has the expertise to open the phone up? if you disconnect the earpiece speaker it might boot.

by

@longpham58734 can you open up the phone?

by

Unfortunately I don't know how to open it and have no tools either :(

by

@longpham58734 Yeah, if Apple is offering to fix it but not saying you have to buy a new phone, you might want to take that offer.
